Cut flowers are stems harvested for sale through florists, wholesalers and events, with a shelf life counted from the moment of harvest.

They are among the most time-sensitive cargo: the stem keeps consuming reserves and losing water, and every hour in transit reduces the vase life that reaches the consumer. Commercial value falls with quality and also with the calendar, since much of the demand concentrates in specific periods of the year.
